1. Relax the look

Boho is as much about the attitude as it is the look so If you’re into strong lines and monochromatic pieces then boho is probably not for you. Add in materials like cane, bamboo and washed timber furniture and finish with some lush greenery. Before you get started creating a gypsy haven, think about the type of mood you want to set and don’t add anything that feels like it won’t ‘fit the brief’.

2. Keep it light

The sure-fire way to keep your home looking boho-fresh is to start with whites and neutrals as your base and build from there. Dark, heavy pieces will kill the vibe so be sure to begin by adding light and fresh colours and build from there. Dark colours can definitely still come in to play but you need to get the base right first.

3. On the wall

Boho is all about layering and the same goes for your walls. Gallery walls with a mix of photos, art and woven pieces will instantly create a layered, boho feel in any room. Don’t be afraid to add pops of colour especially pastels and remember you want the space to feel relaxed feel so anything too heavy or harsh will stand out.

4. Texture

Texture is the best way to add depth and character to a room. For a living room, add texture by adding a Juju hat to the wall, a seagrass ottoman or a large rug with tassels, for a dining room, there’s nothing better than a large pendant and for the bedroom, pile up lots of cushions and throws. Layer up different colours along with neutrals and then add in textures to create the beautiful layered effect boho does so well.

5. More is more

Keep layering! I truly believe the perfect boho space is never complete as you can always add new elements without it being ‘too much’. Add those extra candles and buy more plant babies! Boho has never been minimalistic so keep layering, adding and exploring new textures and colours.
