This Central Coast Brunch Spot Is A Must-Visit
Looking for a reason to head out of Sydney for the day or even the weekend? Brunch at Maccoa Restaurant Terrigal is the perfect excuse...
I always say that the special ingredient in any meal that tastes amazing is love – and this is definitely the secret ingredient when it comes to the food, service and atmosphere at Maccoa in Terrigal.
It’s rare that my husband and I get the chance to steal off for a breakfast for just two, so while holidaying in nearby Umina recently we took it as an opportunity to sample some of the delicious food being dished out of the Maccoa kitchen by the very talented head chef Melissa Dixon.
If I had to describe the fare in three words it would be, good honest food. Pair that with great coffee, excellent service and an idyllic location and you have a recipe for success indeed.
The menu is small but there's still plenty of variety. For those that might want a smaller bite or something on the run, there is the Maccoa Brekky Roll, Coconut & Quinoa Granola or Crumpets with lemon curd, honey marscapone and macadamia crumble (next on my "to-try" list!). But if you’re like us and like a good big breakfast when you get the chance to enjoy one, then you go for some of the heartier fare on offer.
I can't go past smashed avo and Maccoa's version served with homemade corn bread, semi sundried tomatoes, fetta, spinach, chilli pistachios and a side of poached eggs and bacon was excellent!
My husband is a big breakfast aficionado and he was equally impressed with his choice - the locally made Danish Breakfast sausage and homemade beans were standouts for him. The coffee made from Sydney-based Little Marionette coffee beans was perfectly smooth. I also had a refreshing fresh carrot, orange and ginger juice on arrival which was gone in 2 minutes flat!
Whether you're planning a weekend away to the Central Coast, or just feel like a day out of Sydney I highly recommend a visit if you're in the area or even worth the nice drive from Sydney for a holiday/ weekend day trip.
