M Is For Must-Have-A-Piece-Of-Mimco
MIMCO's new collection boasts modern designs and luxe details perfect for a fashion-lovers wardrobe. Here's my edit of must-have pieces...
As as stylist, it's always so exciting to watch a brand evolve from season to season, and if there is one brand proving that the only way is up, it's MIMCO. Recently I had the pleasure of attending the 2017 Season Launch of The Poetic Tempest and was completely blown away, by the elevated designs and attention to detail of MIMCO's latest offering.
I'll be the first to admit that access to international designer brands makes competition in the accessory space fierce, but after a decade in the business and the beautiful new collection, it's easy to see why MIMCO continues to cement itself as Australia’s leading accessible luxury accessory brand. The Poetic Tempest is a luxurious collection of bags, shoes, jewellery, hair accessories, sunglasses and watches inspired by the architecture of grand railway stations, Teddy Boy culture and the Victorian era.
And while MIMCO's iconic and playful button motif will always have a place in its designs, their latest campaign for Poetic Tempest shot through the cobblestone streets of London and across the stunning Scottish countryside, tells the story of a much more refined, elevated offering that really draws on influences from international trends; think sleek, modern designs effortlessly mixed with edgy embellishments, vintage florals and ornate jewellery motifs.
And as the only Australian brand working with the Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI), MIMCO have also proved they have a social conscious too. This collection marks their fourth season in partnership EFI, and includes the ‘Constella Tote’ $249 and the ‘Constella Pouch’ $149 which will be available from March 2017.
At the collection launch event I had the opportunity to chat with the charismatic, charming and passionate EFI co-founder, Simone Cipriani who was able to quantify just how much this partnership means to the thousands of African craftspeople who make the unique, artisanal products for MIMCO. You check out my exclusive interview with Simone HERE.
Under new driving forces including Head of Design, Ailsa Roe and General Manager Sarah Rovis, I am sure this is just the start of more amazing things to come for MIMCO. But for now, without further ado, here are my TOP PICKS from The Poetic Tempest to add to your shopping list immediately!
