The Edit: 10 Drop Crotch Pants To Buy
Say hello to my current obsession - the Drop Crotch Pant. I have been living in many versions of this pant since my pregnancy, and post pregnancy I can't get enough of them either. On high rotation currently are my Austin Drop Crotch pant by Decjuba (I'm wearing a size 8 by the way). These days with a newborn and a toddler, I need to get ready in t-minus five minutes, so my wardrobe is all about pieces that make me look effortlessly cool and allow me to move quickly!
I know, I know the drop crotch divides opinion - some will love them, others will hate them, and if your grandma is anything like my Nonna, she will definitely tell you that you look like you have a sack of potatoes for a bum - but personally I am a huge fan. A great foundation for a minimal look, a drop crotch pant looks equally good with a casual sneaker or boot as they do with high heels. Not sure if they're for you? Here are my three top tips for how to buy and wear the drop-crotch pant:
1. Size up if you need to - A drop crotch pant should be slouchy around the bum and hips and taper from mid-thigh down. If they sit too tight on the top it will ruin the whole effect of the style.
2. Team with a relaxed fitting tee or top for an effortless look - This style of pant is meant to give off an air of nonchalance in line with a minimal vibe. You want to stick with an unstructured top top that sits on or just above the waistband or a loose-fitting tee or cami, loosely tucked or half-tucked to add a bit of shape.
3. Choosing the right fabric is key - Generally speaking a heavy jersey, stretch fabrics and denim flatter most shapes. An elasticised waist works really well with this style of pant as it gives you the freedom to adjust how high / low you wear the pants, thus giving you the choice of how low-slung they sit.
