Believe The Hype - You Need Girlfriend Collective Tights
If you live in tights for working out or play, then you need to add a pair of Girlfriend Collective to your collection. Here's why...
There's no doubt that the activewear trend is live and well and set to keep kicking for a while. As you've probably noticed everyone from traditional sportswear brands like Nike and Adidas to your favourite fashion brands like SEED, Country Road and Witchery have a stake in the market. But if there is one brand to put on your radar pronto it's Girlfriend Collective.
A Seattle-based startup which includes a designer thats consulted for Acne Studios, Elizabeth + James, H&M, and Puma to name a few and another that's honed her expertise as a lead women’s designer at Lululemon Lab, it's safe to say these guys know their stuff!
In fact, the Girlfriend Collective tights have been referred to as "the tights that broke the Internet" due to the unique marketing strategy the brand adopted to create buzz around their launch into the market - they committed to giving out free tights, which actually meant you just had to pay for the cost of delivery - US$19 .95. Normally they will retail for US$70.
Now truth be told, I have never been one to really like to shell out lots of money on activewear, (I usually reserve that for my shoe habit) but when I kept reading about how amazingly soft and impressively flattering these Girlfriend Collective tights made out of water bottles were, I had to try them.
So I placed my order on January 27, and waited almost three months for my tights to arrive. To keep up with demand the tights were pre-order and made to order in the brand's factory in Vietnam - the only country the brand was able to find machines up to the challenge to produce premium activewear at the best price.
And they definitely did not disappoint - even at 36-weeks pregnant the size 8 fit comfortably! Soft, extremely flattering and with an ultra-high 12-inch rise perfect for elongating my legs (at 5-ft nothing I'll take all the help I can get!), they're literally the best leggings I have ever owned. These pics show why I will willingly shell out the full retail price!
